About Us

Nest is led by Anand and Alyssa Ramineni – a neonatologist and paediatric nurse, and parents to three wonderful children: Isabelle, Oliver and Charlie.

Anand has spent his career caring for newborns at the most vulnerable end of medicine – babies as small as 300 grams, born as early as 22 weeks, in some of Queensland's most specialised intensive care units. Alyssa trained as a paediatric nurse in Queensland's largest paediatric intensive care unit, caring for infants with the most complex medical needs. Between us, we have spent years looking after sick newborns and supporting families through their most uncertain moments.

When we became parents ourselves, something shifted. We saw the gap between the depth of expertise available in intensive care and what families typically receive in the early weeks – routine checks too brief to feel meaningful, and families discharged home to navigate the early months with fragmented support. And we knew we wanted to build something different: care that begins before birth, holds steady through the newborn months, and continues as a child grows.

We created Nest as a calm, dedicated space where families feel supported and never alone. Every part of our approach is shaped by the care we would want for our own children. If there's a single line that says what Nest is, it's this: let our family look after yours.

What Sets Nest Apart

Family-owned, and it shows

Nest is owned and run by our family – independent, clinician-owned, and accountable to no one but the families we care for. The people who built Nest are clinicians and parents themselves, hands-on in the service every day, and every decision – from 45-minute appointments to capped fees – is made here, not in a head office. When you contact Nest, you reach the people who can act, immediately.

NICU-level expertise for every baby

Your baby's care at Nest is led by a neonatologist – a specialised paediatrician with additional advanced training in newborn intensive care, the kind of expertise usually found only in public NICUs. If your baby needs more support than expected, the team caring for them is already prepared. And if your baby is well, you still receive the depth of attention we would want for our own.

Family-centred care from the start

We wanted the first moments after birth to be shaped by your baby and your family – not by hospital routine. Skin-to-skin contact, supported breastfeeding, and minimising separation aren't extras at Nest – they're how we begin. For all our specialist training, your baby is yours. Every family is different, and every baby's first hours look different too. Our role is to support what you want for your family. We know when to step in, and when to step back.

One familiar team for your entire journey

At Nest, specialist care begins before your baby arrives and doesn't end at six months. We meet you in bulk-billed antenatal consults during pregnancy, care for your baby in hospital, follow up over the early months, and continue your family's care into childhood through Nest Children's – developmental, behavioural and general paediatrics from a team who already knows your story. One familiar team, from before birth into the years ahead.

Longer, unhurried visits

All our reviews run for 45 minutes – with space for questions, for tears, for trying again. We move at your pace, whether you need a clear explanation, a moment to talk something through, or simply a gentle reminder that you're doing a wonderful job.

Greater care at no greater cost

We wanted expert care to be both exceptional and accessible. Our fees are kept consistent with usual paediatric care, capped, and published openly. Many of our services, including bulk-billed antenatal consults and 3-week phone reviews, come at no extra cost. Specialised care shouldn't mean higher or unpredictable bills.

Closely connected to your maternity team

The best newborn care doesn't begin at birth – it begins in partnership with the people already caring for you. Long before your baby arrives, we're in close contact with your obstetrician or midwife, following your pregnancy so we understand your story and can plan for your baby's first days. Just as we meet you in an antenatal consult, we stay connected with your maternity team throughout – so when your baby is born, nothing starts from scratch. That integration, across pregnancy, birth and the weeks at home, is how we give your family genuinely seamless care.

How we care

Beyond what we offer, we care about how it feels.

We meet every family with warmth, clarity and a full belief in your ability to care for your child. We treat your family as we would our own – with kindness, empathy and genuine care.

Every family is different, with their own values, questions, needs and parenting style. Nest is a safe, inclusive space for families of every background and structure – including same-sex parents, solo parents, blended families, surrogacy and adoptive families. We honour your unique journey rather than offering a one-size-fits-all path.

And if your road has been complicated – by an intensive care stay, fertility challenges, loss, a difficult diagnosis, or things simply not going to plan – we offer care that is sensitive and without judgement. You don't need to explain or justify anything. We'll meet you where you are.

Whatever the day brings, we're here. No question is ever too small.
